Want a house for $5,000? The Shiells in Regional Victoria are happy to part ways with their place for this price – you just have to come and collect.

The family of four is almost looking forward to building their dream property in Bamawm and moving out of the original home at the address they have lived in for the past three years.

But instead of just bulldozing the house, Brenton Shiells said he hopes to help put a roof over their heads by moving the three-bedroom, one-bathroom home.

The house easily accommodated him and his wife Ashlee, son Chase, 8, 3, daughter Charlee, 4 and three border bushes, Benji, Bella and Bonnie.

But in a few months, when their new house is finished, they will be happy to have nothing to do with their old residence.

“It's only a problem that it needs to be rebuilt, but if you move it's not so much of a problem because you're expecting new stumps,” Mr Shiells said.

“But everything there works.”

Inside the house, it can be less than the cost of renovating a kitchen.

Multiple living rooms and three-bedroom floors are included in the cost. Not the stumps.

Although there is some cracking in the plaster work of the house that has occurred over time, the condition of the frame underneath is good, it added.

Mr Shiells said they got the idea when they saw on the internet that houses for relocation, houses being moved to a new location, houses recycling houses could work.

The residence, once located on Dagonet St, Strathmore, was offloaded to Beechworth in late 2017.

Australia snapped it up as a piece of film history, selling for $40,000 at auction.

The Shiells family expects to hand over their old home from April 1 this year.
